My selection is on Los Angeles over New York at 7:05 pm et on Monday. The Rangers are admittedly playing some of their best hockey of the season right now. The pressure is off as they're well out of the playoff race and we've seen some of their young players step up and take on much larger roles down the stretch. With that being said, I think Blueshirt bettors have a false sense of security after watching them stage an 'upset' win in Minnesota on Saturday. Note that New York just hasn't been the same team here at home, where it has gone 9-15-6 this season. The Kings lost against the Devils in Newark on Saturday and that wasn't all that surprising of a result after they won in 'upset' fashion the night previous on Long Island. I'm confident Los Angeles will bounce back on Monday, noting that it is a solid 17-9-8 on the road this season and should have a little extra jump in its step after Ottawa did it a favor by beating San Jose yesterday. In the thick of the Western Conference playoff hunt, look for the Kings to prevail on Monday. Take Los Angeles (8*). |
