Pittsburgh enters the ACC Tournament reeling having dropped 3 straight and probably needing to win the tournament to gain entry into the NCAA Tournament. With their NCAA Tournament hopes pretty much gone, the motivation of the Panthers entering this game will be a big question. Against the spread, recently things have not been trending well for the Panthers either. They have to cover in their last 4 games and are 8-23-2 against the spread in their last 33 games following a game in which they did not cover.

NC State has won 2 consecutive games and 5 of their last 6 entering the ACC Tournament. This late season hot spell has almost assuredly locked up a bid for the Wolfpack in next week’s NCAA Tournament. The Wolfpack’s strength is on the boards where they rank in the top 25 in the country in rebounding. Against the spread, the Wolfpack have also been on a hot streak going 6-1 in their last 7 games. Against teams from the ACC, the Wolfpack are 19-5-2 in their last 26 against the spread.

Free Pick on NC State -4

These two teams met in January and the Wolfpack convincingly beat the Panthers 68-50. Of particular note in that game was that NC State held Pittsburgh to only 33% shooting and blocked 9 Pittsburgh shots while also out rebounding the Panthers. The Wolfpack basically dominated on the inside. In addition, with the game being played in Greensboro this might as well be considered a home game for the Wolfpack. The Wolfpack have fared well against the spread of late as well while the Panthers have some unfavorable trends on their side. The pick in this game is for NC State to cover.
