Green Bay finished second in the Horizon League regular season and come into this contest winners of 4 of their last 5 games.  They are a very stingy defensive team ranking in the top 50 in points allowed and top 25 in blocks per game in the country. Valparaiso finished first in the Horizon League during the regular season and comes into the finals of the tournament with back to back wins against Cleveland State. Like Green Bay, the Crusaders are an excellent defensive team ranking in the top 25 in the nation in points allowed per game and top 50 in blocks per game. Their leading scorer is sophomore guard Alec Peters who averages 17 points per game and shoots at a whooping 48% from three point range.

On paper, they are about as evenly matched as it gets and almost a mirror image of each other on the court.
