Green Bay finished second in the Horizon League regular season and come into this contest winners of 4 of their last 5 games.  They are a very stingy defensive team ranking in the top 50 in points allowed and top 25 in blocks per game in the country. On offense, they are led by guard senior Keifer Sykes who topped the Horizon League in scoring averaging nearly 19 points per game and as a team rank in the top 50 in the country in overall field goal percentage.

Valparaiso finished first in the Horizon League during the regular season and comes into the finals of the tournament with back to back wins against Cleveland State. Like Green Bay, the Crusaders are an excellent defensive team ranking in the top 25 in the nation in points allowed per game and top 50 in blocks per game. Their leading scorer is sophomore guard Alec Peters who averages 17 points per game and shoots at a whooping 48% from three point range.

These two teams played twice this season and each won on their home floor in very close low scoring games. On paper, they are about as evenly matched as it gets and almost a mirror image of each other on the court. When looking closer at Valparaiso’s recent games, they really have played in a lot of close games since January 10th. Its hard to see this game not being very close as well and being decided in the last few minutes. The underdog in this series is 9-4 against the spread in the last 13 games. So take the Phoenix and the points in what should be a very tight contest.
