Preseason predictions are seeing the Detroit Lions as one of the top teams not just in the NFC, but in the entire NFL. They are predicted to win at least 10.5-games. They began this preseason with a lackluster, 34-7 loss at the hands of the Chargers on July 31, in the Hall of Fame game. Under their head coach, this is the team that tries during August contests. If you recall, a season ago they did the same thing in Week 1 of preseason action, losing to the New York Giants, 14-3, then winning and covering both games remaining in August, on the road at the Kansas City Chiefs, and at home against the Pittsburgh Steelers. This is the team that's highly talented, and loaded with talent. They must get their very loyal fans excited. Atlanta isn't expected to be a real contender this season. They should be improved. However, I just don't see them jeopardizing any key players in their first outing in August. Take the Lions. Thank you. |

Houston Cougars. There might be some naysayers out there looking at this game and saying "Well, Houston has dropped back-to-back games and have failed to cover four straight." I'm here to tell you something you might not be aware of. The Cougar have not dropped three consecutive games since January 2016. That's right, over 10 straight years without dropping three straight. And they're not going to drop their third game straight here tonight. They will bounce back with authority and get a big victory. Houston enters this matchup with confidence knowing they have taken down Kansas the last three meetings, all from March 2024 through March 2025. They won the earliest at home by 30-points, the next on the road by six-points in overtime, and the most recent at home by six-points. Let's not forget the Jayhawks come in here dropping two of their last three SU, and three of the last five ATS. Granted, Kansas comes off their worst loss as far back as I can remember at home, getting embarrassed by Cincinnati, 84-68 just a few nights ago. But I don't think this team is built to bounce back psychologically from that drubbing. After tonight, the Cougars have regular season games remaining against the Buffaloes, the Bears, and the Cowboys. These are three teams they can easily take down. Meanwhile, the Jayhawks have the Wildcats of Arizona on deck and can certainly get caught looking ahead here. They then finish the season against the Sun Devils and the Wildcats of Kansas State. Keep in mind even although Houston comes in here off of two straight losses, they played well in both of those games. They still possess one of the most-frustrating defenses in the nation, and are monsters on the defensive boards as well, taking away any second-chance opportunities for their opponents. The Kansas “D” is also very good, but the team just lack the explosiveness on offense to make runs in this matchup. And that's what it's going to take. Take Houston. Thank you. |

North Carolina. With all respect to Louisville, who are a very good basketball team, they lose a little luster when they travel. Sporting an overall record of 20-7, they are just 3-5 as a true visitor this season. They are also crushing any bettors, covering just 13 of 27 lined games. They enter this matchup failing to cover two in a row, and six of their last nine outings. This includes failing to cover three of their last four games played as a guest. Yes, they took the most recent matchup against North Carolina on New Year's Day a year ago at home, 83-70, and I will also admit, North Carolina being without Wilson, is a big blow. They do expect the standout forward to be back for the regular season finale against Duke. But having the 7’0” big man, Henri Veesaar back on the floor is huge for the Tar Heels. He is a monster, averaging over 16.5 PPG, an 8.8 RPG. Playing at home will also be a big bonus for UNC as they are a perfect 15-0 on their own court this season. With regular season games remaining at home against Virginia Tech and Clemson before taking it on the road to Duke, North Carolina needs this win. I feel they can beat tonight's opponent and their next two comfortably before a big showdown with the Blue Devils on March 7. This would give them a very good opportunity to finish the in the ACC in the top-four and get all the bonuses that go along with it. Playing at home, having the depth, and the smarter coaching staff, gives the Tar Heels a big edge here. Take North Carolina. Thank you. |
