They began this preseason with a lackluster, 34-7 loss at the hands of the Chargers on July 31, in the Hall of Fame game. Under their head coach, this is the team that tries during August contests. If you recall, a season ago they did the same thing in Week 1 of preseason action, losing to the New York Giants, 14-3, then winning and covering both games remaining in August, on the road at the Kansas City Chiefs, and at home against the Pittsburgh Steelers. This is the team that's highly talented, and loaded with talent. They must get their very loyal fans excited. Atlanta isn't expected to be a real contender this season. They should be improved. However, I just don't see them jeopardizing any key players in their first outing in August. Take the Lions. Thank you. |

Atlanta Braves. Well folks, the Athletics have begun this season the way they left off last season, and that is losing. Going back to last September this team has now lost six consecutive games. They were blanked in yesterday’s series-opener on the road by the Braves, 4-0. Through four games thus far this season, they are winless at 0-4, and averaging just 2.75 runs per game. That would be bad enough but their pitching has gotten absolutely plowed yielding over 5.00 runs per game. No one expects too much of this team this season, and yet they are still underachieving at this point. Meanwhile, Atlanta comes in here sporting a 3-1 record and playing some very smart baseball. Their lineup is consistent and their pitching has been absolutely stellar, yielding just 1.50 RPG. Yesterday's shutout was their second in four games already. Today, starters are expected to be Civale and Suarez. Suarez made seven appearances for Atlanta last year, and is expected to be followed by Martin Perez, today. There is a lot of excitement surrounding both of these hurlers this season. As far as the Athletics starter goes, last season with three different teams, he really didn't look very impressive with any. He gives up a lot of hits, and a lot of earned runs. Playing at home, with a stronger lineup at this point, and a better pitching staff, all points to the Atlanta Braves. Thank you. |

Both the Rangers and the Orioles are supposed to be competitive teams this season. However, for both, they play in very competitive divisions. Right now, Texas has jumped out to lead the West with a 3-1 record. Meanwhile, Baltimore sits at .500 at 2-2. These two teams met in the series-opener yesterday as the Rangers prevailed 5-2, giving them their third consecutive victory in this American League rivalry and their fifth over the last six meeting. Texas is accounting for over 5.25 runs per game while the Baltimore offense is almost nonexistent averaging a mere 3.25 RPG. Today starters are scheduled to be Jacob deGrom and Zach Eflin. The Rangers right-hander is making his first start of the 2026 campaign. A season ago, he owned a respectable record of 12-8, with a very low ERA of 2.97. Over his career, he has faced Baltimore five times, going 5-0 with a 1.34 ERA against them. Very simply, he has dominated this team. The Orioles right-hander is also making his first start of the campaign. A season ago he was 6-5 with a whopping ERA of 5.93. Over his career in two matchups against the Rangers, he is 1-1 with an ERA of 6.97. There's no question the Texas offense right now is accounting for significantly more runs, while they have a stronger starter on the mound, particularly against today's opponent. Take the Rangers.
